Try It On Tuesday (Monday)

Hey there!
So I decided to do my Try It On Tuesday a day early since I am going to be busy all day tomorrow babysitting my nieces and then working.

So for those of you who don't know what TIOT is, it is the day when we finally use one of the many polishes that have never been used and have been sitting on our shelves. Today I decided to use 2 of my unused. I used Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet and Butter London Henley Regatta.

I used 2 coats of Mint Sorbet on all my nails. Then Henley Regatta one thick coat on every nail, except 2 thick coats on my ring finger. I really love this look and I'm super happy I finally used these colors :)

What unused polishes do you have collecting dust on the shelf?

Wondering also, do you prefer the large photos or the x-large photos?

China Glaze: Harvest Moon

Hi'yall!! I'm in a bit of a hurry this morning so we will make it quick.
I did a simple mani using China Glaze Harvest Moon which I got for only $0.01 on Copious.com.

I am completely in love with this beautiful coppery-bronze metallic. Even my husband said he liked it. It went on great and smoothly and I only used two coats, with one coat Seche.

I gotta run so I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Candy Shops and Marshmallow Dreams

So, while removing my previous mani, I thought "why do I bother with glitter? It's such a pain in the *bleep* to get off!!" and then I remembered...."Oh yeah, cuz glitter is AWESOME!!" I just wish it was easier to remove...

So today...more glitter.

I swung by my local Claire's today and picked up Candy Shop and Marshmallow Dream.

Candy Shop is a glitter bomb with multi-sized, multi-colored hex glitters in a sheer pink jelly base. Marshmallow Dream is another glitter bomb, beautiful irridescent hex glitters in a clear base.

Candy Shop is a very sheer pink base, so I started with 2 coats of OPI Pink Friday. And on my ring finger Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

I honestly can't believe how great these polishes are. I just love them! And only $5 a piece (But Claire's always has cosmetics buy one get one 50% off, so I only paid $7.50 for both!!)!

Aren't they pretty?
What polishes have you picked up that totally surprised you?

Midori Sparkle

Hello, ladies! It's been awhile. I spent the weekend in Canada for my cousin's bridal shower. It was alot of fun but when we got back on Monday, I was still exhausted yesterday. So, sorry about the delay in posting.

I came home to some Nail Mail, which was pretty exciting. I have been having alot of fun with Copious.com. Sellers can go on the site and sell their nail polish, clothing, beauty supplies, etc. And you get a $10 credit for signing up. They also have periodic weekends where you can get another $10 credit. So far, I have gotten $30 of nail polishes free!! (Well, for $0.01 each) Here's the link if you want to get your own $10 credit:
http://copious.com/invites/4fe4736e6058f106dc0191f1
Anyway...on to the nails!!!
I started with 4 coats of Zoya Midori (one of my Copious finds). It is a little on the sheer side so needed 4 coats to make it completely opaque.

Then, to add some fun to it, I used Essie Set In Stones.
My pointer finger got a little beat up at work last night :(

I put a glob of glitter at the tip of my nail. Then, after scraping my brush clean on the bottle rim, I used my dry brush to pull the glitter down about halfway down the nail.

Ants In My Pants

Hey ladies!
I was super excited last night when I came home and checked my email. I saw that my delivery confirmation had been received and my NAIL MAIL was HERE!!! I paused Project Runway and ran to mailbox. It it was my long awaited polish: Spoiled by Wet n' Wild- Ants In My Pants.

Wet n' Wild used to make a polish very much like this one and called it Behind Closed Doors, which I think is a much more appropriate name for this beauty.

It is a dark charcoal jelly with multi-sized red glitters suspended throughout. Very sexy, I think.

I was a little disappointed as I was applying it. It didn't go on as consistently as I would have hoped and the brush was very wide. That made it hard to do my pinky nails as they are about the same width as the brush. I had to use about 3-4 coats to get an opaque finish. Maybe next time I will use one coat of a black first to minimize the amount of coats.

Anywho!! I'm off to Canada for my cousin's bridal shower. I will be back Monday and will hopefully have a new post Tuesday. So stay tuned :) Later!

Living On The Wild Side

Hey Guys!!!
So today I decided to try my hand (no pun intended lol) at leopard print. I have never done it before but I have seen a few tutorials and thought I would give it a try.
I love all the different color combinations you can use with this mani.

I used Nicole by OPI Sounds Grape To Me as my base. It is a pretty purple-red sparkle duochrome that shifts between the purple-red to a yellow-green. Then I used my dotting tool to add abnormal dots of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Silver Sweep. Then I used my smaller dotting tool to add Chi My Little Black Book around the silver dots and randomly throughout the nail.

I think the next time I do this design, I will probably use more contrasting colors, as you can't really see the black against Sounds Grape To Me. And I might add some more large spots also next time. But otherwise, I really like my mani today.

What do you think?

Sandwich Mani

Today I decided to do a sandwich mani. I love the look of these, but I'm kind of lacking in the correct polishes to do a really good one. So this is what I pulled together... Sorry about my cuticles, i have been a bad blogger and have neglected to use my cuticle cream lately...

I started with 2 coats of Julep Juliette. Its a sheer, almost jelly white. Then I added one coat of NYC Starry Silver Glitter. This is one I have had probably since high school and I have never had to add any thinner or anything to it. It still works great. It has micro silver glitters as well as small blue and pink hex glitters.

Then I added 2 more coats of Juliette and one more coat of Starry Silver Glitter. I have seen some sandwich manis on some other blogs that are much prettier and eye catching, but with what I had to work with, I kind of like it.

Do you notice a difference in my photo quality? That's right, I got my new camera and it's completely amazing! I'm so excited and taking pictures of everything I see :)
on that note, does anyone know how to add a Watermark to photos? I feel like I should be putting them in there somewhere.

Also, I want to let everyone know about the awesome giveaway going on at Glitter Obsession. She is giving away 5 China Glaze products from their new OMG line. So go check her out :)

A Little Blue On Blue Action

Hey all! So the concert Wednesday was Ah-MAZE-Ing!! I didn't want to take off my ferris wheel nails. But, it was time.

I started with Essie Mesmerized, a lovely denim-blue cream.

I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Brisk Blue with my BM-210 stamping plate.

Topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite.

Enjoy!!

Some Blog Updates

So, being the blog novice that I am, I realized today that I have no icon for people to use to follow me! I was wondering why I have no followers and now I know.

So I have added a button to follow me via Google Friend Connect. So if you wanted to do so, please do so. :)

Thanks Guys!!

Rock Concert Nails

Hey Guys!! Hope everyone had a good weekend! So tomorrow my husband and I are going to a concert and I'm so excited. I did my mani today, though, as I will be studying all day tomorrow for 2 tests I have on Thursday. Blech!
Anyway, let's see if you can guess who we are seeing:

Did you guess it? Yeah I didn't think so. We are seeing The Gaslight Anthem!!! WooHoo!!

My favorite album of theirs is The '59 Sound and I used the album cover for my inspiration.
Good-looking guys, huh?

Anyway, this was my very first attempt doing actual nail art, with brushes and everything. And even though I  practiced quite a bit on some paper, the actual nail is way harder. So I apologize for the shotty quality of the art.

So my pointer, obviously are the letters of the band. And that thing on my ring finger? It's supposed to be a ferris wheel (they reference a ferris wheel in more than one song and even part of a song title).
See it?

I started with Zoya Kelly on all my fingers. I did one coat of OPI It's Totally Fort Worth It on my ring finger.
On my pointer I used Orly White Tips for the letters.
My ring finger I used China Glaze Liquid Leather for the ferris wheel and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Brisk Blue for the chairs(?).
I used Brisk Blue with my BM plate #206 for the stars on my other fingers.

So what do you think? Did I do ok?

I Love Stamping!

Hey guys! I've been trying stamping more and more now and I think I am really getting the hang of it. It is all about the polish you use and I have found metallics work best. I have also heard that almost any color of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri is good for stamping as well, so I picked up a couple more of those and we will be giving them a try soon.

I have some good news I think. I have been dying for a new camera so I can actually put some decent pics up on here. I have been looking at some but fretting about how I am going to afford it. Well, last night my sweet, amazing husband told me he is going to get me the one I have been eyeing (Canon SX150 IS) for my birthday next month! Hooray!! So if you guys can just bear with me just a little longer, I promise I will be posting some really awesome pictures.

Anyway, to the nails:

I started with OPI DS Extravagance and then stamped with my Bundle Monster plate #212 using Sally Hansen Pink Satin.

Im really happy with the way it turned out and I hope you are too.

Hope you enjoyed :)
